Novouralsk became one of the first in the USSR industrial, a centre of science of the nuclear industry. The leading place in city industrial production occupies UEIP - the diversified enterprise of the Ministry of the atomic engineering which scientific potential has allowed to reach modern level of technics, technologies, high quality of production, successfully to compete on a foreign market. The UEIP is brought in the book of quality of Europe with delivery of a prize (1992). It has mastered release of the consumer goods: TVs, phones, devices, neutralizers of exhaust gases of cars, nickel-kadmievyh of accumulators.

The Ural electrochemical integrated plant - the world's largest enterprise for uranium enrichment, the developer and the manufacturer of the newest devices and control systems of technological processes in the nuclear industry. The unique equipment, high technologies, high culture of the manufacture, rich labour traditions of collective allow to solve the challenges. The UEIP - one of first-borns of the nuclear industry of Russia - was included into a system in 1949.
Despite all difficulties, its building, equipment by the unique equipment and collective formation have been carried out in the shortest terms. Since then throughout decades the combine remains to one of leading enterprises of atomic engineering of the country.
Originally, under a scientific management of academician I.K. Kikoina here there was the school of highly skilled experts invariably providing the most advanced level of dividing manufacture. Start-up in the early sixties the first-ever factory on uranium enrichment by centrifugal way became the important step on a way of increase of its efficiency. Now in operation there is a generation of centrifuges which many times over surpass the first models in productivity. They can work without a stop more than 15 years with the level of refusals which is not exceeding the tenth share of percent year.
Appreciable influence on combine activity has rendered atomic engineering formation. In process of its development the combine was gradually reoriented from release highly enriched uranium on low enriched, used as fuel on atomic power stations. In the early seventies it has entered the international market. At the beginning low enriched uranium made of raw materials of the customer was exported. Later for these purposes the domestic raw materials began to be used. The combine has established close connections with firms and the companies of France, Germany, Belgium, England, the USA, South Korea, Sweden, Spain, Finland, Switzerland, Italy, Argentina.
In 1989 manufacture of weapon uranium at combine has been completely stopped. And according to prisoners later intergovernmental agreements on reduction of nuclear arms developed its processing in fuel for atomic power stations.
Today combine - the leading manufacturer of fuel for atomic engineering, a large centre of science of the nuclear industry of Russia in which 7 doctors and 67 candidates of sciences work. High quality of production of UEIP, safety of its manufacture are provided with the effective monitoring system behind a course of technological process and conformity of finished goods to the provided parametres. The central factory laboratory of combine makes finished goods certification on conformity to specifications. Modern devices and techniques of analyses, and also high qualification of the personnel allows to provide the control over quality uranium hexafluoride at level of the international requirements. One of the best in the world on accuracy and width of a range system of standard samples of uranium Here operates.
In dividing manufacture of combine the advanced technology guaranteeing the minimum influence on environment is used. The control over ecological conditions round the enterprise is carried out by means of stationary posts, mobile installation and powerful analytical base. Supervision over the maintenance of polluting and radioactive substances in air, soil, water, snow, land and water vegetation are conducted. Actual concentration radioactive nuclide below admissible on "to Norms of radiating safety for the population" a ground layer of air in 70 times, in water - in 240 times.
At factory of electrochemical converters unique samples of new technics are created. Among them onboard sources of the electric power of spaceships: generators of a direct current "Wave" and the "Photon" which is not conceding under the characteristics by best in the world to devices of similar appointment. Research and design works on creation of energy sources for communication satellites are conducted.
Under the licence firms "Gambro" (Sweden) the device "an artificial kidney", intended for medical aid rendering was issued at chronic nephritic insufficiency and a sharp intoxication of an organism.

Under the licence corporations "Engelgard" (USA) on UEIP manufacture catalyst blocks for neutralizers of exhaust gases of cars is mastered. Its designed capacity - 2 million catalyst blocks in a year.
Last years at combine manufacturing and of some other kinds of production new to it is adjusted. Trial samples of cold-resistant accumulators and on their basis starter battery, and also highly effective filters for clearing of air of industrial premises and technological gases are created.
Working out of tight cylindrical accumulators for radio - and electroequipments with use as the carrier current-generating weights of electrodes of flexible porous metal tapes is conducted.
The newest technologies in the field of division of organic substances and civil use of original composit materials are developed. Medical and biologic problems and separate problems of the industry of sports and rest are successfully solved. The portable centrifuge for allocation from plasma of blood of fibers is projected. There is begun a batch production of microcentrifuges for hematocrit the analysis in the conditions of medical and researchs organizations establishments of system of public health services. Equipment of a site of manufacture of the sports goods from coal - and organic plastics is finished. Ski sticks "Rikon" under the characteristics do not concede to analogues of leading foreign firms.
Creation of the Ural electrochemical combine has led to occurrence of a city of Novouralsk (Sverdlovsk-44). And today the combine is conducting enterprise forming a company town. Such position imposes on it special responsibility for a condition of a social infrastructure of a city, creation of worthy conditions of a life of its population.
Medical and sanitary the combine complex is presented by a polyclinic, therapeutic branch of the hospital, two dispensaries, health centres and a drugstore. And "Mother and the child" annually pass in dispensaries "Emerald" treatment to 3500 workers of combine, members of their families and pensioners. A subject of special care are preschool centres which visit more than 4000 small inhabitants novoural'ska. The combine constructs modern dairy factory which provides townspeople, nurseries and medical institutions by high-quality production.
The centre of a sports life of workers of combine and members of their families is club "Cedar" which in the activity uses belonging to combine stadium, hockey and tennis courts, a skiing lodge, the Palace of sports with a game hall and a swimming pool, a mountain-skiing line, etc. the General physical preparation in club are engaged to 20000 persons, in sports sections - more than 1000. Ample opportunities for versatile rest and development of creative abilities of townspeople are created in the House of culture of UEIP where successfully there are employment in ensemble of ball dance, in clubs on interests, performances of musically theatre "Humming-bird", etc.
At the enterprise it is created and the Youth organisation of UEIP solving problems of youth of the enterprise and a city works.
